NEWS

*I have had a wonderful summer retreat, and am looking forward to returning to the Bay Area and beginning to teach again. This autumn I will be offering several classes at Piedmont Yoga Studio.

Starting September 20th, I will be offering a Level One weekly class on Wednesdays at 9:30-11:00 am. This class will follow the introductory format (similar to Introduction to Yoga series, moving slowly and methodologically, with lots of broken down explanations and demonstrations).

In October, on Tuesdays at 5:45-7:15 pm, I will be offering my four-week Yoga for Core Strength series. I recommend this course for students Level Two or Three.

In November, on Thursdays at 7:30-9:00 pm, I will be offering an Introduction to Yoga four-week series. This series is designed to give complete beginners their first look at many of the poses they will likely be encountering in Level 1-2 or Level 1-3 classes. Poses are introduced methodologically, with verbal explanations and demonstrations.

*We have a new member in our family! We were vacationing in rural New Mexico, when one night at 3:00 am we were awakened by a huge commotion just outside our cottage. A pack of coyotes had chased this little dog up to our house, and he narrowly escaped their jaws (by millimeters it seemed), falling into our portola! He was completely traumatized for hours, but the next day made friends with Kath, Tim, and eventually Buddy and Leia, so we decided to keep him. Welcome Eduardo! (8/06)

* In June of 2006, my long time love Tim surprised me with a marriage proposal! I accepted, of course. I've always known he was something special ever since our first date back in April of 2002. Though I didn't feel ready for a relationship at the time, that first date certainly planted the seed of hope in my heart. We cultivated a close friendship, which eventually blossomed into a romance, and the rest is history. I feel blessed to be part of something so whole. Tim has a close extended family back in England, most of whom will not be able to travel to the U.S. for our wedding, so we've decided to bear the burden of the traveling and get married twice. Our first ceremony will take place on May 27, 2007 in Sonoma, California. Our second ceremony will be on June 30, 2007, in Gloucestershire, England.

* Kath completed Piedmont Yoga Studio's Advanced Studies in Yoga program on June 25, 2005.

Pilates "walk-in" mat classes have been replaced with pre-registered eight week series of mat classes designed to introduce people to pilates, working from the very beginning to the intermediate level. The walk-in mat classes too often threw beginners and advanced people together such that neither could benefit maximally from class. The new pre-registered series will ensure that students of the same level come together and work at a mutually comfortable pace towards common goals. Our first session in the Fall was so much fun that the group requested another eight week session working from the intermediate to advanced level. I'd look forward to offering another beginning level class, however, if there is enough interest from a group of brand spanking new students.Currently, I am waiting until my new studio gets built this spring before beginning a new group, but let me know of your interest.
