Katherine Davis believes that "flexibility" is a state of being arising from the mind, heart, and body. She has taught for twelve years in physical therapy clinics, private studios, community centers, and colleges; working with students as young as eight and as old as eighty, some badly injured and others Olympics-bound. Kath's teaching is informed by a solid foundation in anatomy, and inspired by a passionate respect for, and conviction in, each student's unique path. A graduate of Piedmont Yoga Studio's Advanced Studies Program, she also holds a B.A. in Dance from Scripps College, and Teaching Certifications from Performing Arts Physical Therapy/The Pilates Studio, Authentic Pilates, and Romana's Pilates. She is registered with Yoga Alliance at the 500-hour level, and is continuing her education through concurrent enrollments in Georg Feuerstein's Traditional Yoga Studies course, and Spirit Rock Meditation Center's Mindfulness Yoga and Meditation Training Program. In her own practice, Kath has experienced significant transformation including relief from occasional recurrent back pain, obvious gains in strength and stretch, as well as significant lightening and clearing of consciousness.

The Yoga Cottage |

The Yoga Cottage is a private studio located near the Rose Garden in Oakland, California. The studio is located in a quiet, off-street location that looks out onto a private garden, and features bamboo floors, a bathroom/changing room, and a full set of props including bolsters, blankets, blocks, straps, mats, chairs, wedges, and eye pillows.

Private lessons in yoga can be beneficial for a variety of students--those recovering from an injury or surgery, those with chronic back problems, intermediate practitioners wishing to deepen their practice, or beginners seeking a solid foundation. Lessons at The Yoga Cottage may vary from 60, 75, 90, to 120 minutes depending on individual student's needs--times will be determined collaboratively between each student and his or her instructor.
